If they are the AODE transmissions then the first complaint of not wanting to engage at all and the leaking is from one of the pump housing bolts leaking intermittently which is in the bell housing. The complaint of shudder is from the torque converter clutch. Ford has now changed there recommended service interval to 22,000 miles on all rear wheel > drive electronic transmissions as far as I know. I guess a little bit too late for owners of pre 97 vehicles. If servicing the shudder trans fixes the shudder for only a short time then the torque converter will have to be replaced for a permanent fix. Then service from then on and you should be OK. == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jun 1998 08:43:19 -0400 From: Chad Royse Subject: Re: FTE 80-96 - Water Stain That actually doesn't sound like a bad price. Although that's probably enough to repaint your entire truck. Can you get it in a pint? You should also be able to find some one to custom mix you a pint. But before you go through all that, did you try wet sanding the area lightly with 1000 or 1500 sand paper? A lot of times you can remove imperfections that way. Just follow it up with a good buffing compound (a light grit) and then finish with some glaze. Chad Casey Vandor wrote: > I have those round rope cleats on the sides of the bed of the truck. But the ignition module on your truck is much better than the old one. Still, it's worth a check. If you have a friend with an EFI smallblock Ford V8, they may have a module you can pop in so you can see if it works before shelling out the $$$. Basically when cold, the truck starts up and runs fine. After runing awhile it gets warm and stops running, won't start. Cools down for awhile and starts right back up again! Hi Pat, The FIPK, Filtercharger Performance Kit, is a replacement to the filter plenum that holds your filter in place. Basically it is a very large filter that allows your engine to get all the air it needs with- out any air drag as it flows thru the filter and housing. Advantages: Improved performance-approx. 10-15 hp Improved fuel economy-approx. 2 miles per gallon. Never needs replacement-clean every 50,000 miles Dis-advantages: Very loud-(some people think it sounds cool.) Cleaning requires re-oiling. costly-about $165.00 I purchased K&N PN 75-2503, which is the same for your truck. Go to this web site for detailed information: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://cyber1.virtualrep.com/scripts/webcatalog/performanceinternational /search.tpl K&N also has a web site but is mostly BS. The kit also comes with a re-charger kit. You won't need it for another 500.000 miles so store it where you can find it three years from now. You should add a little more oil if you plan to go off road, the squirt bottle they give you sucks more than their filters. :-) Don't add too much, like Dave Resch said. I have a motorcycle with a K&N jet kit so I used the spray bottle that came with it, not the squirt bottle. You will notice a great performance increase if you combine this kit with a high flow cat-back exhaust and a power computer chip like I did. But it will cost you big bucks. I live in Ontario so those would be the best ones for me but i wouldn't mind having a couple for other parts of Canada in case i want to go on vacation somewhere different. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Todd Johnston Big Bronco Bustin == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html....
