I"ve driven my 99 F250SD quad diesel for 6600 miles ,some with a heavy
5th wheel stock trailer(when I build something it's hell for stout) or a
1000 pound pop-up camper. I flive in Wyoming so there's always a few
mountains in any trip We also have LOTS of wind-hence the popup camper
I average 17mpg That's at an average 65 mph (hard to keep it down there
tho) to 75 mph except when my wife drives--then it's85 mph. I had a 92
dodge cummins before and get about the same fuel mileage with the ford

I've read that the 5.4L in the F-150 is going up to 260 hp and
345 lb./ft. of torque in the `99 F-150. Is the Super Duty line also
going to receive these changes? Also what is the 4.6L going to have
for power? Thank you. -- Nathan Bernard, Union Auto e-mail

Nathan,

You read correctly; the 5.4L V-8 will have 260 horsepower and 345
lb.-ft. torque in 1999 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition models. The
5.4L V-8 in F-Super Duty models will be carryover from the current
model, say product sources.

According to the latest information, the 4.6L V-8 will be 240
horsepower in the 1999 Ford Expedition; carryover with the same
horsepower and torque ratings for both Ford Econoline (215 hp) and
F-150/F-250 (220 hp).

Torque: 290 lb.-ft. for both Econoline and F-150/F-250;
293 lb.-ft. in the 1999 Ford Expedition.

Thanks for your questions; keep them coming! Good Selling!

Mark,
I have a F250SD 4x4 SuperCab with the V-10 and 4.30 gears. I just put 1000mi on it
and I am getting between 10 and 11mpg. As with new trucks I've owned in the past, I....
