Correct on the T-case!

The 205 will work with just about any rearend you want to make a
driveshaft for :)

Really I have seen them drive 1/2 ton axles all the way up to the 2 1/2
ton jobs.

FOMOCO stopped producing the FE family in 1976 didn't they??? How we gonna
get a donor tranny from a '80's without changing to the 351M/400M or 460???
Is there an
aftermarket adaptor for this combination?

You are right! I have a 400 in my 78 Bronc' and I am moving to
the AOD setup. I may be mistaken, but I thought the 390 had the
same bolt pattern.

I don't think you'll be able to find an AOD with a bellhousing that will
fit an FE, will you? I think the biggest thing (from the factory) in front
of an AOD will be the 351 Windsor.

William: I have a 67 mustang with a C6 and a 428. The C6 from my
mustang is not the same as the C6 that would bolt to a 351/400/460. The
housing is more rounded than the late model C6's which have the "tall"
housing.

Thanks!

if you can find the parts, swap pans. use one fromn econoline 460. make
sure you get the dipstick and tube for it and block of the old dipstick
hole in the timing chain cover. i did not swap pans, but my front axle
never comes close to the pan. i will be changing it over winter i think.
i hope to do some dirt drags next year and don't want to starve the motor
of oil as a front sump allows the pump to become uncovered under hard
acceleration. oh yeh, check to make sure the stick won't in any way get
close to the crank.

i understand that even in 77 a 460 was an option, but i have never seen one
that is factory, has anyone else?
one piece of advice you probobly already know, is make sure you can lift
the motor high enough to get it in/out! i borrowed a picker from a local
company (OK 4WD, stewartsville NJ) and even after putting 28" tires with
almost no air pressure in them on the front i almost didn't get past the
radiator support. i tried with the hood on, but i needed to take that off
too.

btw, what are you using for exhaust manifolds/headers?

I'm getting ready for the "BIG" swap planned for this weekend.
Saturday is the "gather the parts" day. I'm putting a 460 from a '77
Lincoln into a '78 F150 4x4. According to the Ford dealer the 460 was
an option for the '78 F150 so will I be able to use the stock 460
motor mounts? Will I have to change oil pans? and boy there sure are
alot of hoses on that 460. Any last minute advice?

I have seen a factory F250 4WD with a 460. I can't remember if it was a '78 or '79.
